Unforgettable Scene – DIF II Ending

I will never forget the ending to Detective Investigation Files 2. The tearful, heartbreaking scene at the airport was too unbearable to watch! After witnessing the rollercoaster relationship between Jessie and Dai Yung, it was frustrating that we got a cliff hanger ending (but nevertheless it was in typical TVB style)!

I remember watching the ending in January 1996, but had to wait until September 1997 when DIF 3 was finally released. It was a very long wait, and unfortunately the third instalment was rather disappointing. The storyline and mystery cases were not up to par with the first two, and I found the overall feel of the series to be gloomy. The main characters had matured due to their experiences in part 2, but at the same time their lovable naivety and ‘sense of humour’ evaporated. The characters had become jaded.

Furthermore the rollercoaster that is Jessie and Dai Yung continued, but this time it was somewhat tiresome to watch. How many obstacles does this couple have to go through to be together??!! The best thing in number 3 was that we finally got a happy ending for the golden couple! However, it is rare for TVB to not break up a couple after so many instalments. Therefore it’s quite a feat that Jessie and Dai Yung were given a happy ending after three series. It is comforting to know that my beloved Jessie will always be with her knight in shining armour – forever! She will always be happy and live to the ripe old age of 100 with many great-grandchildren, and not ‘die’ out of the blue (or in other words be killed off by stupid TVB writers and executives). As I said before the positives to not having a sequel is that your favourite characters will truly have a fairytale ending.

i had to wait for like 3 years or less before watching part 3. i saw part 2 in Vietnam & i was screaming at the ending. i immediately ran to the store & the man told me part 3 hadnt been released yet. i kept checking every few weeks & after a few months, he told me they stopped making the series. i was like NOOO!! it wasnt until i came to the states that i got to watch part 3. man, i was very excited & couldnt wait a minute to turn it on. i was afraid that Monica would end up w/ Michael, but it was great Kenix did instead. phew...

i agree that the atmosphere of part 3 is gloomy & the sense of humor is no longer there. the cases, however, are better than part 1 imo. i thought the cases in part 1 were the worse. i know many disagrees ^__^
